The Social Anthropology Society (SocAnthSoc) gained a new lease of life in 2011 through the dedication, hard work and energy from a group of fourth year honours students and postgraduates. This year SocAnthSoc is reaching out to as many students as possible. It is establishing itself as a sociable and academic society that hopes to provide a place for students new and old, both within the discipline of anthropology itself and outwith, to meet each other, discuss personal and academic interests and have fun! The society provides regular socials, film screenings, pub quizzes, trips and many more. This year the committee is also setting up a buddying scheme, whereby third and fourth year anthropology students will support first and second year students who wish to learn more about social anthropology and Edinburgh’s anthropology department.
