Description

The next Edinburgh Global Mental Health network event will be on November 23rd, 2017. We are pleased to have Dr Erminia Colucci, University of Middlesex to screen her film titled: ‘Breaking the Chains: Human Rights Abuses of the Mentally Ill’. The film is s an ethnographic documentary that examines the use of physical restraint and confinement of persons' experiencing mental illness in Indonesia, a practice known as pasung (more details on film below). The screening will be followed by a panel discussion chaired by Dr Selea Gleadow, involving  Dr Colucci, Mr Neil Quinn (University of Strathclyde), Professor Jill Stavert (Edinburgh Napier University), and Carol Tibi-Opi.
