Dr Sushil Baral, Executive Director of Health Research and Social Development Forum (HERD) based in Nepal, and a research partner on the Wellcome funded research programme Understanding TB: Technologies, ethics and programmes will be presenting his experiences of the relationship between research and policy in the health sector in Nepal. 

Dr Baral has spent more than 20 years in the area of public health and has extensive work experiences in Nepal, India, Pakistan and UK. He specializes in the areas of health policy, health systems and service, strategic planning, programme development, implementation, research and monitoring and evaluation. He holds a PhD on “Understanding Tuberculosis Treatment Completion in Urban areas of Nepal” from Leeds Institute of Health Sciences, University of Leeds.
