Lucy's doctoral research examined the relationship between forced migration and reproductive health decisions among Somalis living in Eastleigh, the 'Little Mogadishu' area of Nairobi.  Her research looked at how and why Somali women and their families made particular decision relating to childbearing, and how these were framed by understandings of gender, citizenship, and Islam, and situated within a context of displacement, insecurity, and uncertainty.

Moving forward, Lucy is currently planning her future research, which will explore the significance of health and religion among Somalis in the UK and the USA who have or are planning to return to Somalia.
