Film Screening: My Scar
When: 6.15-8.30pm, Tuesday 12th February 2019
Where: Room G.05, 50 George Square
My Scar is an Austrian documentary based on women's experience during and after C-sections both planned and spontaneous. It highlights the medicalisation of birth and hospital economy in an intimate portrayal of female narrative.
The screening will be followed by a discussion about who bears reproductive responsibilities, how medicine may be too eager to safe lives and where patients' needs are left behind.
There will be snacks and (non-alcoholic) drinks!
Please be aware that the documentary is in German with English subtitles and that it discusses birth trauma, by nature a sensitive topic.
This event is in collaboration with the Social Anthropology Society, SoMA and EdCMA.
