Edinburgh welcomes Sri Lanka researchers

Sri Lanka in Transition: Society, Polity, Economy 5th Roundtable on Contemporary Sri Lanka, University of Edinburgh

We will be welcoming over 50 researchers from around the world for one of the biggest ever events focused on Sri Lanka to be held in Europe. Discussions will focus on changes and problems since the defeat of Mahinda Rajapaksa in the January 2015 Presidential election.  Highlights include a panel on constitutional reform and transitional justice, chaired by Professor Christine Bell, with contributions from Harini Amarasuriya, Asanga Welikala and Alan Keenan, and a closing session with the writers V.V. Ganeshananthan and Sunila Galappatti reading from their most recent work.

The roundtable is supported by Social Anthropology, the Centre for South Asian Studies, the School of Social and Political Science, and the Global Justice Academy.
