Visiting Researcher: Dr Chihiro Nakayashiki

We are pleased to introduce a new visiting researcher, Dr Chihiro Nakayashiki who will be an academic visitor for the next year.

Chihiro Nakayashiki obtained her PhD in 2017 from Kyoto University and currently has a Post-doctoral Fellowship funded by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) based at the University of Shiga Prefecture. She has conducted extended ethnographic research on family, kinship and personhood among Tibetan Buddhists in north India. Her work examines how family and kinship relationships are created through substance, personhood, environment, behaviour, gestures and other interactions, and how these are influenced by political activities such as election campaigns.
