Janet CarstenProfessor Janet Carsten (PI)

Professor of Social and Cultural Anthropology

Janet has conducted research in Malaysia and Britain. After completing her PhD at the London School of Economics, she was a Post-doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Cambridge, and Lecturer at the University of Manchester. She is a Fellow of the British Academy and of the Royal Society of Edinburgh.

Siobhan Magee

Dr Siobhan Magee

ERC Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Siobhan completed her PhD on fur clothing and intergenerational relations in Poland at the University of Edinburgh in 2013 and has since worked on a design anthropology project about secondhand clothing and 'the Internet of Things' in Manchester and Edinburgh.

Hsiao-Chiao Chiu

Dr Hsiao-Chiao Chiu

ERC Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Hsiao-Chiao completed her PhD at London School of Economics and Political Science (2017) on the continuities and changes of Chinese kinship groups in Jinmen (Taiwan) in relation to the island’s long-term militarisation against the Cold War context.

Eirini Papadaki

Dr Eirini Papadaki

ERC Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Eirini Papadaki is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow (2017-2020) on the European Research Council-funded project 'A Global Anthropology of Transforming Marriage' (AGATM) with PI Professor Janet Carsten. She will conduct ethnographic research in Greece (Athens) from August 2017.

Koreen Reece

Dr Koreen Reece

ERC Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Koreen completed her PhD at the University of Edinburgh in 2015. Her work examines the effects of the AIDS epidemic on families in Botswana, and the legacies of governmental and non-governmental initiatives launched in response.
